I get to see the coast of Scotland from the air time and time again but I’m very rarely allowed to take photos of it. The other day was an exception.
It was a stunning day and the coast looked good, although saying that the coast always looks good when you haven’t seen any land for nearly four weeks.
Green on green.
Here are some ruins for you, I have know idea what they are but one day I will hire a car and drive up the coast to explore.
And I can’t not have a lighthouse in shots of the coast, unfortunately the angle was a bit steep and I couldn’t get away from the refection of my bright yellow survival suit.
Not bad I think considering I only have my small point & shoot camera. Have a great weekend.
They managed to get me back on a helicopter and I’m back at work, been out in the North Sea since the 5th and we haven’t pulled an anchor yet!
It wasn’t a bad flight out to the rig, we got a fixed wing aircraft up to a place called Wick which is way up north near John O’groats, this meant the chopper ride was only 25 mins, also the chopper was new and had big windows which makes an easier escape route.
Not much really happens in the North Sea so I tend to only bring my little point & shoot. However we are close to a FPSO and a platform so thought I might get a shot to show you guys what goes on out here.
Here a tanker is coming in to unload the FPSO, the Maersk boat close by is there just incase and the other large boat is surveying the area.
That was the shortest rigmove I’ve done in a long time, keeps the client happy though. It’s a great feeling to finish a job, all anchors down, in the correct position, and no one got hurt, well except from me when I got a paper cut from printing my expenses.
I’ll be on a helicopter soon flying back to Aberdeen, then a plane back to London, so thought it was only right to post this photo I took last year of this guy who could tell us a bit about flying. This was taken with my point and shoot, which just goes to prove the saying “the best camera is the camera you have with you”
Footnote: There has been a Helicopter crash in the North Sea, all 14 onboard are ok we think, the chopper I was suppose to be on is helping with the rescue effort.
Looks like all choppers have now been grounded.
