Once all the paperwork with customs onboard Kapowai was complete we then had to go ashore and visit three other buildings all in different parts of town, not ideal on a very hot and sticky day, this is why some people don’t bother stopping in some places, the paperwork is crazy.

On this day I was glad I didn’t carry my big camera, hours later after once the admin was done we found an indoor market, it was so nice to get out of the heat, I grabbed a couple of shots with my iPhone.

Really nice limes, great in a G & T.

Iphone Friday   16 comments

I haven’t done an iPhone post for a while, mainly because I forget my phone is a camera, I know this sounds strange but when I have a camera around my neck I just don’t even think about my phone/camera, so to get around this I left my camera at home last weekend while I was in Malta.

So here’s a bit of Malta on an iPhone.

Malta Street

And of course doors, I can’t walk pass door with character without taking a snap.

I-phone Friday   15 comments

Here are a couple of shots taken while I was working in Portsmouth, Taken with my I-phone and processed with Instagram, if you would like to follow me on Instagram, You can find me at, funny enough ‘rigmover’

Ok enough of the sarcasm here they are.

photo

This of the cobble stone road and curb was taken outside a pub, and yes it was taken by mistake, before I cropped it you could see my foot.

This was coming into harbour, I hope it works.

Have a great weekend.

Hank Pt.2   11 comments

While Perry my painter was busy sanding, sanding and doing a bit more sanding, I was still cleaning and painting parts, like these headlight mounts.

Before.

photo copy

And after.

First rubbed down to bare metal, etch primed, primed and then a few final coats of stone chip black, I also replaced all the screws with stainless steel.

photo copy 2

In fact every screw, washer, nut and bolt I could get off I replaced with stainless steel.

Even things like these drop spindles, these lower the front of the car by about 2″, know one will ever see these once on the car, unless it drives over you, but it had to be done.

After painstakingly masking up, these went through the same painting process as before.

Meanwhile Perry was hard at it. Boot, bonnet, doors and some copper pipe! All getting some primer.

Hank himself was starting to look pretty good too.

R.I.P Lee Rigby

On a drive to collect parts for Hank (see last post) I drove through Woolwich and pasted the spot where Lee Rigby was murdered by two cowardly nutters, I was meaning to drive down and visit the spot but sort of felt a bit uncomfortable , like I was intruding or something, now I wished I had, this shot I took out the window while driving past, it shows a small amount of the tributes left by people from all over the country and even abroad to this brave young lad.

RIP

Have a great weekend.

iPhone Friday   15 comments

Getting off one rig and going straight out to another, wasn’t to bad, travelling all day, including two flights and a two hour train journey, wasn’t to bad, the taxi driver dropping us off at the gate and a half mile walk with bags to the rig, wasn’t to bad. Arriving as the base of the rig and seeing 157 steps to climb, with bags, in the dark, that was bad, I hate steps.

20130510-161156.jpg

It didn’t look that bad from back here.

20130510-161523.jpg

Looking from here I was hoping they would send the crane down, at least for our bags.

20130510-161856.jpg

We managed the steps and after a safety brief made our way to our cabins, this rig is a Flotel, accommodation only, so it’s quiet and clean, even outside. At full capacity it can sleep around 350 people, but as we are moving it to a new location after a re-fit in Copenhagen there is only 52 of us onboard.

Here’s something I don’t get to see every day, a Maersk Supply boat having some work done in dry dock. Cool.

Have a great weekend.

Hank Update   9 comments

I didn’t get around to posting an iPhone Friday yesterday so thought I would do a iPhone post today combined with a Hank update, there isn’t a great deal to see as most of the work has been carried out under Hank, things like new adjustable suspension all round, drop spindles fitted on the front, lowering the car by 2 1/2″ , rubber bumpstops and new gators fitted all over the place.

Here’s the bits you can see.

New Stainless steel front bumper and clear indicator lens.

Hank

New rear stainless steel rear bumper and rear light lens, these and the front bumpers will be coming off when Hank goes into paint but would rather make sure they fit now then when he’s got fresh paint.

Hank

New steering wheel and a Gene Burg gear shifter.

Have a great weekend.

For those of you who saw the photo of Archie with the sign around his neck saying he had eaten the floor, here he is again sitting on the new floor (which took me a week to lay) and this time I’m going to embarrass him big time, so here is is saying sorry with Xmas socks on.

20130111-204739.jpg

So that’s him sorted, here is some more iPhone sort of my journey to work this time.
Started on the tube.

Next stop Heathrow terminal five, sitting in Wagamama’s have dinner and this part of the roof structure reminded me of something out of a Transformers movie.

20130111-205347.jpg

Then finally after my stop over in the Shetlands made it to the rig, this is our standby boat, every rig and platform in the North Sea has a standby vessel, these were introduced after the Piper Alpha disaster in July 2008 in which 167 people were killed.

Have a great weekend.

I-Phone Friday   8 comments

Just went and got some last bits for Christmas, while the wife was food shopping I made my way to the booze aisle and found some Ale’s, some of these are very close to my heart, and liver.

Thought I would share some of them with you, those of you that have been to the UK may know some and even sampled some, but the rest of you will just have to take my word that we actually drink this stuff.

All photos taken with my iPhone 5 and Camera+

Not a very Christmasy one.
